Citrus Student Transition Program
What is the Student Transition Program?
The Student Transition Program is dedicated to providing academic, emotional, and social support to all Citrus Middle School students. Our mission is to support, connect, and empower students as they transition to and from high school, ensuring educational equity and expanding access to valuable resources within KCUSD and surrounding communities. Through this support, we strive to foster academic success and personal growth for every student.
What Support is Available in the Student Transition Program?
After School Tutoring
Taking place regularly in the Transition Room, all Citrus students can catch up on assignments, get help reinforcing classroom learning, or strengthen study habits. This is a supportive place where students get help that is specific to what they need.
Tutoring is open to all students on a walk-in basis. Students can also be referred by a teacher, staff member, or parent.
Mentoring
Mentoring programs for Citrus students help students grow leadership skills and receive encouragement to boost academic achievement. It promotes community engagement, helping students thrive in the classroom and beyond. Students are referred to these programs by staff.
- Mentoring for Success pairs Orange Cove High School students with Citrus Middle School students, creating meaningful connections that inspire growth and confidence. High school mentors visit regularly to guide and encourage middle schoolers, offering support as they prepare for the exciting transition into high school. The program’s goal is simple but powerful: to help every student feel supported, motivated, and ready for success.
- El Joven Noble (The Noble Young Man) is a character development program rooted in cultural teachings that supports young men through their adolescent "rites of passage." The program emphasizes building leadership skills and academic success by teaching the importance of keeping one's Palabra (Word).
